Pottery Class
After many requests and much preparation, beginning classes in pottery making on the wheel will commence on Monday, the second of March, in the teaching studio at Jacob Preston Pottery on Church Street in Old Town Bluffton. The teacher will be none other than the recently retired Bluffton High pottery teacher, Tim Holsinger. Not only is Mr. Holsinger exceptionally engaging and personable, he is an excellent teacher with more years of experience than he would like to discuss. He has been a friend and mentor to a generation of young artists and potters, first at Hilton Head High, and for the last decade, at Bluffton High. The classes are from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, with each session lasting for six weeks. The charge is $300 per session, which includes 25 pounds of clay, appropriate glaze, and firing to stoneware. The class is limited to six students, full payment required to secure your place. There is also a class under consideration for more advanced potters, to be taught by master potter Jacob Preston. Please call or come by the studio during business hours (Tuesday thru Saturday, 10 – 5) for details.
